According to Wechat Official Account @EnergyStorage001, on April 23rd, Canadian Solar Inc. announced that its subsidiary, e-STORAGE Energy Technology Co., Ltd., has signed an agreement with Colbún, a leading power generation company in Chile. e-STORAGE will provide a 228MW/912MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) for the "Diego de Almagro Sur" project in the Atacama Region of Chile.
The project will utilize e-STORAGE's SolBank 3.0 energy storage system, which integrates lithium iron phosphate battery technology, active balancing battery management system, and advanced liquid-cooling temperature control technology to ensure efficient and safe operation of the system. e-STORAGE will also provide Colbún with a full-cycle solution including localized project management, commissioning services and long-term operation and maintenance.、
Construction of the energy storage project is scheduled to begin in June 2025 and will create approximately 150 jobs during peak construction. The project is expected to be in commercial operation in December 2026. The storage system will have the capacity to meet the equivalent electricity demand of 55,480 households and will create synergies with Colbún's 232 MW “Diego de Almagro Sur” photovoltaic plant, which will be in operation from 2022.
