According to Solarzoom, on February 19, TCL Zhonghuan announced progress on the acquisition of a subsidiary's equity. According to the announcement, the company plans to acquire 100% equity and corresponding rights of non-U.S. regional sales subsidiaries directly and indirectly held by Maxeon, as well as specific registered trademarks and trademark applications in these regions, including the "SunPower" trademark. The parties have signed a formal equity purchase agreement and trademark transfer agreement, along with related ancillary agreements outlining transitional services and subsequent delivery arrangements.

It is reported that the specific registered trademarks and trademark applications held by Maxeon, including the "SunPower" trademark, are primarily used for marketing and product identification in the solar energy sector. The SunPower trademark holds significant influence and recognition in the solar industry, particularly in the U.S. and other markets with advanced solar technology development. SunPower’s products and services are sold and deployed in multiple countries and regions worldwide, including the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Its extensive market presence further enhances its global brand recognition.

TCL Zhonghuan stated that this transaction will further expand the company's overseas sales and channel resources, enhance its product influence in international markets, and strengthen its global business layout, aligning with its overall strategic plan. Additionally, the acquisition will help the company leverage various advantages, optimize its marketing structure and brand channels, improve synergy and operational efficiency, and enhance its ability to withstand industry cycle fluctuations.
