According to Energy1, on January 16, during the first major global photovoltaic exhibition of 2025, the World Future Energy Summit (WFES 2025), UAE clean energy leader Masdar announced that JA Solar and JinkoSolar have officially been selected as preferred suppliers for the world’s largest solar-plus-storage project. This project is also the world’s first GW-scale "24/7 solar PV + battery storage" project. JA Solar and JinkoSolar will each supply 2.6 GW of high-efficiency N-type modules for the project.

Masdar is a globally renowned renewable energy company established in 2006. As a pioneer in the clean energy industry, Masdar has long been committed to advancing the development and deployment of photovoltaic, wind, geothermal, energy storage, and green hydrogen technologies, contributing significantly to global net-zero goals. To date, the company has developed and invested in over 50 GW of projects across more than 40 countries, delivering substantial value toward a sustainable future.

This collaborative project, located in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is funded and constructed by Masdar. It includes a 5.2 GW solar PV installation paired with a 19 GWh battery storage system. Upon completion, the project will provide a stable daily output of 1 GW of baseload power, effectively reducing the region's reliance on fossil fuels, significantly lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and accelerating the UAE's progress toward its 2050 net-zero strategy. It also represents a historic contribution to achieving the UAE consensus established at COP28.

Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi stated, “This record-breaking project represents a major step forward in the development of clean energy. It overcomes the intermittency challenges of renewable energy, achieving 24/7 green power dispatch. To ensure the project's success, Masdar is committed to identifying the best partners to meet the highest construction standards. I look forward to working with our preferred suppliers in setting a new global benchmark for clean energy development.”

Zhu Daocheng, President of JA Solar’s PV and Energy Storage Business Group, remarked, “JA Solar is honored to deepen its collaboration with Masdar on this historic project, which marks a significant leap in the global clean energy transition. As a company dedicated to advancing sustainable solutions, we share a vision with Masdar to overcome the inherent challenges of renewable energy and achieve continuous, reliable clean power supply. This project not only sets a new global standard for energy innovation but also underscores the critical role of high-quality, cutting-edge technology in driving the transition to a low-carbon future. We are privileged to participate in this milestone project and firmly believe our partnership will continue to lead excellence in the renewable energy sector.”

JinkoSolar has also been selected as the preferred PV module supplier for the project, providing 2.6 GW of solar modules. Both companies will utilize the latest TOPCon technology with optimized parameters to ensure maximum efficiency and output over a 30-year lifespan.
