1.5GWh, Sungrow Signs Supply Agreement for Energy Storage Systems
2024-12-09 11:31

On December 6, Sungrow announced that it signed a 1.5GWh Battery Energy Storage (BESS) agreement with Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC).

Under the agreement, CREC will purchase 1.5GWh of Sungrow's energy storage systems, while Sungrow will also provide engineering and construction design services to ensure integration with CREC's PV projects.

This is the largest energy storage supply agreement in the Philippines and Southeast Asia as of today.

The installed PV capacity of the project is 302MW, and during the peak power generation hours in daytime, the PV power generation cannot be fully connected to the Internet, resulting in a large amount of power abandonment. The PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage system configured with Sungrow will be mainly used for power abandonment recovery, storing excess electricity during the day and dispatching it to the grid for use at night, so as to improve the utilization rate of renewable energy and maximize the return on investment of the project.

The project had a short delivery period. The delivery period from the signing of the agreement to the first shipment was only 2 months. The PowerTitan 2.0 system, with its integrated AC-DC design, was pre-installed and pre-commissioned, and was ready to be connected to the grid immediately on site.

Oliver Tan, CREC's President and CEO, stated, “The immediate development of battery storage systems is a necessary step in realizing the maximum potential of our renewable energy facilities. By installing these systems in conjunction with our photovoltaic systems, we will be able to provide the power we need at any time of the day or night”.

“We are pleased to support CREC's goal of advancing energy storage systems in the Philippines, and through our technology, we will be able to help CREC and the Philippines meet their power needs,” said Shawn Shi, vice president of Sungrow's Photovoltaic Storage Group.
