According to Xianning News Network, Chuangming New Energy recently established the first fully automated high-speed production line for wide-temperature quasi-solid-state large cylindrical batteries in Mianyang, marking a significant milestone in China's battery industry. This production line is capable of manufacturing various sizes and capacities of lithium iron phosphate batteries, sodium-ion batteries, lithium manganese iron phosphate batteries, and lithium iron phosphate quasi-solid-state batteries.
Chuangming New Energy was founded in March 2003 and is one of the first private enterprises in China specializing in cylindrical lithium-ion batteries. The company employs nearly 1,000 people and has been dedicated to the research, manufacturing, and sales of cylindrical lithium-ion batteries since its inception. Their products are widely used in intelligent consumer electronics, green transportation, energy storage systems, and other applications.
Chuangming New Energy has established a production base in Mianyang, Southwest China, with plans for a 32-series production line and a 46-series production line. Once fully operational, these two lines will have an annual production capacity of 5 GWh, with the first phase reaching a total of 10 GWh at full capacity.
Solid-state battery production lines are being rapidly developed
It is worth noting that the construction of solid-state battery production lines is accelerating. In addition to Chuangming New Energy, companies like ProLogium Technology, Longding New Energy, Nissan, Shanshan Corporation, Langu New Energy, Zhongtian Technology, and Zhongsha Guoyi New Energy are also actively investing resources in technological development and production line construction.
At the beginning of this year, ProLogium Technology announced that the world's first solid-state battery production line was officially put into operation, with samples distributed to major new energy vehicle companies for testing and module development. ProLogium claims that their solid-state battery can charge to 80% in 12 minutes, enable an electric vehicle to travel over 1,000 kilometers on a full charge, and has a charge-discharge cycle life of over 1,000 cycles, with excellent performance at -30°C.
In March, Longding New Energy and Shiyi New Energy started construction on a large-capacity polymer solid-state battery PACK production line project with a total investment of approximately 3.2 billion yuan. Once completed, the project will have a production capacity of 760 million ampere-hours of solid-state large-capacity batteries.
In April, Nissan showcased its all-solid-state battery pilot production line in Yokohama, which is expected to be operational by March 2025. Nissan plans to launch electric vehicles equipped with these batteries by the 2028 fiscal year. In the same month, Shanshan Corporation's kiloton-level hard carbon production line was put into operation, achieving mass application in sodium batteries, lithium batteries (including semi-solid-state batteries), and supercapacitors.
In May, Langu New Energy announced plans to build 26 solid-state battery-related production lines, including 6 solid electrolyte powder production lines and 20 solid electrolyte slurry production lines, with a total investment of approximately 1.436 billion yuan and an expected annual production of 62,000 tons of electronic specialty materials. That same month, Zhongtian Technology announced that its semi-solid-state battery production line had completed its pilot run.
In July, Zhongsha Guoyi New Energy planned to launch a 2 GWh semi-solid-state battery project in Luoyang, with production expected to begin in November. The total investment for the project is 600 million yuan, including battery cell and PACK production lines, a product exhibition hall, a research and development center, and a shared battery exchange project.
In August, Haimu Star further advanced its strategic cooperation project with Xinjie Energy. On August 9, the two parties signed an equipment procurement contract, with Xinjie Energy's wholly-owned subsidiary Jiangsu Xinjie planning to purchase 2 GWh battery automation production line equipment from Haimu Star for a total amount of 400 million yuan.
