According to media reports on July 17, Tesla's Global Vice President Tao Lin addressed questions regarding the completion of the Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory and whether the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory would continue to expand at a media briefing held on Monday.

She stated that the Energy Storage Gigafactory is scheduled to be completed by 2025, which will be Tesla's first energy storage factory outside the United States. The Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory will maintain its current production levels, and the company remains very confident in the Chinese market.

Regarding the expansion of Tesla's Supercharger network and consumer concerns about high prices, Tao Lin mentioned that the expansion of Superchargers in mainland China is ongoing, and prices are determined by market forces. Tesla will strive to meet market demands.

The Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory broke ground on May 23 this year and is expected to start production in the first quarter of 2025. Once operational, the Gigafactory will produce over 10,000 units of the Megapack, a large-scale commercial energy storage system, with a storage capacity of nearly 40 GWh.

The project covers an area of approximately 200,000 square meters and has a total investment of about 1.45 billion yuan. From the time the investment intention was confirmed last December, the project has been utilizing the new project service package introduced in the close to the new harbor area for construction engineering.

The Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory, located in the close to the new harbor area, covers an area of about 200,000 square meters and is adjacent to the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory. It is Tesla's first energy storage gigafactory outside the United States and marks another significant investment in China following the Shanghai Gigafactory during Tesla's ten years in the country.

The Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory will primarily produce the Megapack, a large-scale commercial energy storage battery, for the global market. Tesla's current energy storage products include Powerwall, Powerpack, and Megapack.
