339GW!China has 2/3 of the world's PV and wind projects under construction

According to a recent study by the non-governmental organization Global Energy Monitor, China accounts for two-thirds of the world's solar and wind projects under construction, including 180GW of ground-mounted, centralized photovoltaic projects.

Currently, the total installed capacity of ground-mounted concentrated solar and wind energy projects under construction in China is 339GW, almost double that of the rest of the world combined. According to the report, as of December 2023, the United States has only 40GW of ground-mounted concentrated solar and wind energy installed under construction, followed by Brazil (13GW), the United Kingdom (10GW) and Spain (9GW).

And that figure only includes solar power projects with a capacity greater than or equal to 20 MW, meaning that the total amount of solar power generated in China is likely to be much higher, as small-scale solar power plant projects account for about 40% of China's solar power generation.

Foreign media said that the above findings highlight China's leading position in global renewable energy production. At present, the United States is increasingly worried about China's overcapacity and dumping problems, especially in the solar industry.
