arQana Technologies and Foxconn announced today that they have completed the acquisition of the arQana wireless communication business, becoming an 100% subsidiary indirectly held by Foxconn and a global supplier of RF semiconductor components. In the future, it will support Foxconn and customers in the wireless communication market in vehicle applications and 5G infrastructure needs.

arQana Taiwan, arQana Belgium, and AchernarTek will be able to continue to invest in high-performance application research and development of wireless communication infrastructure in the future through this acquisition and partnership. In adiditon, it will expand its business scale in the electric vehicle market.

Glenn Vandevoorde, CEO of iCana and former CEO of arQana, said the acquisition is expected to accelerate time-to-market, shorten supply chain lead time from components to market, facilitate business growth, and use expertise to create new products to enter new markets, starting from electric vehicle automotive semiconductors to meeting the needs of more industries for semiconductors.

AchernarTek, arQana Taiwan, and arQana Belgium will integrate technical and operational resources to establish a new brand iCana which will leverage Foxconn's expertise and development capabilities in the semiconductor field to strengthen the semiconductor supply chain. After iCana is incorporated into Foxconn, it can share Foxconn's existing expertise and innovative solutions to enable iCana to meet the needs of the 5G connected electric vehicle market.

The acquisition of arQana's 5G business and the merger with AchernarTek echoes Foxconn’s 3+3 strategy (electric vehicles, digital health, robots) and demonstrates its determination to develop electric vehicle production and semiconductor design and supply, while RF semiconductors are the future of electric vehicles. A fundamental component of networking, while 5G networks are being deployed around the world, the new generation of vehicles will also require new RF components to work with 5G networks.

The new brand iCana is a fabless supplier of semiconductors that specializes in the design and manufacture of forward-looking wireless communication systems including wireless communication infrastructure and connected vehicles, having offices in Taiwan, Belgium, and the United States. iCana is more committed to creating high-performance products, especially in the global advanced communication technology market in order to improve the semiconductor industry ecosystem.
