The Jiangsu Bureau of China’ National Energy Administration has released an overview of the development status of the province’s electric power infrastructure during the January-February period of this year. The main highlights are as follows:
[1] As of the end of this February, the installed generation capacity of Jiangsu Province reached 155.338GW. Of that amount, the power plants that are under the integrated dispatching scheme accounted for 130.8819GW, and the non-integrated power plants accounted for 24.4561GW. Regarding the amount of electricity generated in the province, the total for February was 436.86TWh, showing a year-on-year increase of 25.41%. The cumulative amount of electricity generated in the province for the current year came to 957.7TWh, showing a year-on-year increase of 9.64%. Of that amount, 883.87TWh came from power plants under the integrated dispatching scheme, showing a year-on-year increase of 10.9%; and 73.82TWh came from non-integrated power plants, showing a year-on-year decline of 3.45%. The number of hours utilized for power generation across the province averaged at 617 for the January-February period, showing an increase of 3 hours when compared with the same period last year. In the case of integrated power plants, the number of hours utilized for generation averaged at 674, showing an increase of 14 hours when compared with the same period last year.
[2] The whole Jiangsu consumed 530.01TWh of electricity in February, showing a year-on-year increase of 26.83%. The cumulative consumption of the province for the current year came to 1,146.88TWh, showing a year-on-year increase of 7.87%. The grid load of the province has reached a peak of 102.3306GW so far this year, showing a year-on-year decline of 12.55%.
[3] With regard to the development of generation assets in Jiangsu, the newly added generation capacity in the January-February period totaled 1.1392GW. Of that amount, thermal generation comprised 176.2MW, wind power comprised 18MW, solar PV comprised 944.2MW, and hydropower comprised 0.8MW. As for the development of the transmission network in the province, 784.15km of cables with voltages of 110kV or higher were laid in the same two months. Also, 122.3 million kVA of substation capacity was added in the same period.
