CSG Holding Ltd., a major glass manufacturer owned by the Chinese government, announced on March 29 that its board convened an extraordinary meeting to approve a proposal to upgrade its G6/G7 production lines in Dongguan. Located in the Chinese city of Dongguan (Guangdong Province), the G6/G7 production lines manufacture glass panels for PV modules. The upgrade will entail the adoption of the more advanced process technology and equipment.

According to the announcement, CSG’s subsidiary Dongguan CSG Solar Glass Co. Ltd. will be acquiring the equipment and process technologies used in the manufacturing of large-size glass panels, double-coated glass panels, and other specialty glass products. With the new equipment, the subsidiary and CSG as a whole will be able to respond to changing market trends, ensure reliable product deliveries, and sustain long-term growth.

Dongguan CSP Solar Glass currently possesses two G6/G7 production lines. They will undergo the technology and equipment upgrade that enables the manufacturing of large-size and double-coated glass panels. CSP will invest RMB 61.33 million into the upgrade, and the money will come from its own coffer and bank loans. The upgrade is expected to take 12 months to complete.

Also earlier this March, CSG was reported to have activated the first phase of a major production complex for silicon and glass products in Hubei Province. The facilities in the complex will be producing high-purity silicon, silicon wafers, and ultra-thin glass materials for electronics.
