7-ELEVEN Installs EV Charging in 3 Stores to Promote Low-carbon Sustainable Activity
2022-03-17 9:30

In response to the trend of energy conservation and carbon reduction, 7-ELEVEN has launched electric vehicle (EV) charging services, hoping to promote the convenience and popularization of these services through its dense store service network and jointly promote low-carbon sustainable actions. This time, 7-ELEVEN has partnered with NHOA TCC and EVALUE to introduce EV fast charging piles in three stores in Hualien, Taoyuan, and Nantou. In the future, not only are the number of service bases expected to expand according to consumer demand but the company also plans to combine charging with its OPEN POINT ecosystem to create a convenient digital energy-saving network.

While the world is focusing on the 2050 net-zero carbon emission goal, 7-ELEVEN is also actively building an EV charging and swapping service platform. Since partnering with the Gogoro Network for the first time in 2015 and creating the first convenience store in Taiwan to set up an EV battery swap station, more than 190 stores successfully incorporated these stations and the number of people serviced has grown year by year, while also creating energy saving and carbon reduction benefits. Taking 2021 as an example, 7-ELEVEN cooperated with the Gogoro Network to serve more than 3.5 million people, reducing carbon emissions by more than 10,000 metric tons, which is equivalent to the carbon absorption of 39.4 Daan Forest Parks in one year. In the same year, it also expanded its cooperation with KYMCO Group Ionex on easy battery swap stations.

This time, in order to celebrate the official opening of the first new type EV charging station combining green energy and energy storage in partnership between 7-ELEVEN Hualien DAKA Lianhe store and NHOA TCC, all EV owners who use this charging station from now until April 5 will receive a free CITY PRIMA boutique latte electronic exchange coupon. The station is also equipped with the first pure green electric solar slow charging (24K GREEN) charging pile in the local area. During charging, car owners can use shared electric bicycles for free to travel to the surrounding tribes and enjoy nature.

In response to trending ESG, 7-ELEVEN has announced that 2021 will be the "first year of sustainability," and focus on four major projects: plastic reduction, carbon reduction, food efficiency, and sustainable procurement. Actual application includes not actively providing straws, developing fresh food products to reduce plastic packaging materials, the promotion of "i Treasures," partnering with the Gogoro Network and KYMCO Group Ionex to promote carbon-reduction transportation energy supply, cooperating with PackAge+ to reduce the amount of one-time online shopping packaging materials, and actively promote various sustainable actions. In 2021, the company was selected as a constituent stock of the "Dow Jones Sustainability World Index" and "Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index" for the third consecutive year, making it the only Taiwanese company invited in the food retail industry.
