CIP Changfang & Xidao Offshore Wind Farm announced on August 17th the completion of all installation for the 48 units of underwater foundation piles after the impact from the pandemic and the level 3 alert.

The Bokalift 1 barge managed to complete all installation for the 48 units of underwater foundation piles yesterday for the Changfang & Xidao Offshore Wind Farm contracted to Hwachi Offshore Wind Taiwan, which was followed by a swift conversion of configuration for the barge in the hopes of initiating the underwater foundation installation prior to the end of the month.

Bokalift 1 had started executing the construction mission after departing from Kaohsiung Port on June 28th. Hwachi Offshore Wind Taiwan pointed out that the 48 units of underwater foundation piles supplied by CTCI were successively transported to the site of the wind farm for installation. The 48 underwater foundation piles used by the wind farm are measured at almost 70m in length, and 320 tons in weight, on average, which requires a high degree of profession in both transportation and installation.

Hwachi Offshore Wind Farm Taiwan also added that the team has been diligent in achieving the comprehensive localization policy by working closely with the local supply chain, hiring local water vessels, and partnering with local companies on underwater noise reduction procedures. Cetacean observers cultivated by local fishermen’s associations also participated in relevant measures.

The Changfang & Xidao team and Hwachi Offshore Wind Farm Taiwan managed to overcome the difficulties derived from the strict border measures amidst the level 3 alert and the succeeding typhoons. Dennis Sanou, CEO of the wind farm, commented that all underwater foundation piles required by the wind farm were supplied by local suppliers, and he is grateful for all crew members and team members for completing this phased mission under the predicament derived during the construction schedule.
