The company has just announced on May 4 that Vestas has bagged a 50 MW order for a wind farm in China. The name of the customer and project have not been disclosed.

Vestas will supply V120-2.2 MW wind turbines in 2.4MW power optimized mode.

The deal also includes a 5-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement.

The products are expected to be delivered in 2020Q3. Commissioning is planned to start in the same quarter.

The Vietnam Deal

Only 3 days ago, Vestas made an announcement of landing on a deal for 2 wind projects totaling 64 MW in a mountainous terrain of Quang Tri province.

The 2 projects are owned by local companies, Huong Tan Wind Power Joint Stock Company and Tan Linh Wind Power Joint Stock Company.

Vestas will supply 16 V150-4.2 MW wind turbines in 4.0 MW operating mode.

The deal also comes with a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement for both projects

The project site is located on a very challenging terrain, consisting of high gradient slopes and sharp turns. It will be difficult for the supplier to transport, install and commission a project there.

However, Vestas is making custom turbines specifically designed to overcome the challenging location.

This could demonstrate Vestas’ technical prowess in handling the specific logistics and installations that are required of constructing a wind farm in complex environment.

With this new deal, the Danish wind turbine expert has secured more than 160 MW of projects in Vietnam this year.

Clive Turton, President of Vestas Asia Pacific, said “Vestas is once again leading the market in Vietnam. We are very proud to partner with local developers Huong Tan Wind Power JSC and Tan Linh Wind Power JSC and look forward to working closely with them to support their growing ambition to develop more wind projects across Vietnam. At Vestas, partnership is at the cornerstone of everything we do. With our inhouse siting, logistics, and construction experts, we are able to work closely with all our customers to help them achieve their commercial objectives on all manner of sites around the Asia Pacific region”.
