Regional Markets

1. Bangladesh

Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh has announced that a tender for a 50 MW solar power plant in Sonagazi, Feni District is underway. The tender will be held on January 20. Prospective bidders are requested to submit their bids by February 27.

 

2. Brazil

The Brazilian government is removing a grid fee for net-metered solar systems proposed by the power regulator, ANEEL, on January 6.

 

3. China

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has published “Q&A on Implementation Measures of Production Capacity Replacement in Cement and Glass Industry” on January 3.

According to the Q&A, a capacity replacement plan must be formulated, when constructing new projects of cement clinker and flat glass (including photovoltaic glass, automotive glass and other industrial glass original sheets). 

It is strictly prohibited for the manufacturers to increase capacity. Should it be necessary to expand the production capacity, it must be followed by decrement or equivalent capacity replacement. 

In the environmentally sensitive areas, the flat glass plants should remove at least 1.25 tons of outdated capacity for every 1 ton of new capacity.

 

4. Zhejiang Province, China

Wenzhou Xinnengyuan Holdings Holdings Co., Ltd. has issued a tender announcement involving Fengye Holding Group's modules for distributed solar power projects.

The bidding documents are sold from January 6 to January 15, 2020. The deadline for bidding is 10:00, February 13, 2020.

 

5. Poland

The successful bidder of Poland’s 42MW photovoltaic project is Innogy. The size of each project is 1MW.

 

Companies

1. Changzhou Almaden Co.

Changzhou Almaden Co (“Almaden”) has made an announcement regarding its routine operation agreement.

According to the announcement, Almaden has become a qualified supplier for Tesla in recent years. Almaden has increased its glass supply for solar panels. The contract value is classified.

 

2. China Energy Engineering Corporation

China Gezhouba Group Company Limited, a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation, won an EPC contract to develop solar power facilities of 500 MW in Egypt on January 3.

 

3. Jiangxi Ganneng Co., Ltd.

A subsidiary of Jiangxi Ganneng is planning to build a 16 MWp rooftop PV system in Oufeiguang industrial park of the High-Tech Industrial Zone in Nanchang City, Jiangxi province.

The project is valued around US$7,823,502 (RMB 54 million).

 

4. TBEA and ACME

TBEA and ACME, the Indian PV tech giant, have officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement, which involves 1.4 GW inverters.

 

5. JA Solar

JA Solar has announced that it is expanding its 1.6 GW ingot production project in its equipment production industrial park in Baotou, Inner Mongolia. The project has been commissioned on January 8, 2020.

 

6. NV Energy

NV Energy is commissioning its Gemini solar project, a 690 MW PV power plant in Nevada. 

According to a 25-year PPA, the project will cost approximately US$38.44 per MWh

 

7. Solarpack

Solarpack has won a bid to develop a 116 MW PV project in northern Malaysia.

The company also has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) that will last 21 years, of which the tariff is set as MYR 231.8 (approximately US$56.7).

 

8. Obton

Danish PV developer, Obton, has indicated that it is going to join forces with Irish PV developer, Shannon Energy, to develop PV projects of 500 MW.

It is estimated that €300 million will be invested in the solar energy in Ireland over the next five years.
