Electricity Producer Voltalia Acquires Martifer Solar

Electricity producer Voltalia announced the acquisition of Martifer Solar, a solar power plant developer. The acquisition was firstly unveiled on June 20 2016 and was finalized in August in the same year. This transaction is part of Voltalia's continued plan to grow through the diversification of its energy mix and its geographic footprint

Voltalia currently operates over 1GW of renewable energy generation facilities around the world, of which 376MW installed and 627MW operated on behalf of third-party clients. Through this acquisition, Voltalia will accelerate its development strategy by diversifying its energy mix as well as increasing its global presence.

Solar portfolio represents 50% in Voltalia’s project portfolio, up from 13% prior. The company regards solar power as the most promising energy choose because it is fast growing around the world. By the synergy with Martifer Solar, both Voltalia will strengthen its businesses in solar development, construction, operation and maintenance.

The sale by Martifer Solar of its US assets, considered non-strategic, has been completed. This sale was a condition to the finalization of the acquisition. Martifer Solar’s accounts will be consolidated within the Voltalia accounts from August 18, 2016.
