Enerray, an Italian subsidiary of Maccaferri Industrial Group and Desert Technologies (DT), a Saudi renewable energy engineering and construction contractor, has selected JinkoSolar’s PID-free Eagle PV modules for its 23MW PV project in Jordan.
The 23MW project locates 125 miles north of the Jordanian capital in Ma'an. It consists 73,320 JinkoSolar’s high-efficiency PID-free Eagle modules, and is expected to generate approximately 47GWh of clean electricity for the Red Sea port city of Aqaba per year.
Enerray utilizes SMA’s inverters for the project.
The project marks the first large-scale solar PV project in the Middle East and is one of the 12 approved PV projects by the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. It is backed by a twenty-year power purchase agreement with the National Electrical Power Transmission Company (NEPCO). The project is also the first one with a network of over 1.5GW in the MENA region from Morocco to Saudi Arabia.
“We believe Jordanian market is leading the way in the adoption of solar energy in the region. Its current program has incentivized other governments to join the club," said Gulnara Abdullina, General Manager Africa & Middle East of JinkoSolar.
