2016-01-04 16:55

Tempress Systems, a subsidiary of Amtech Systems, has received approximately US$22 million in new solar orders in Fiscal Q1. Around 50% of the revenue was from its PECVD systems, which can increase efficiency performance of PERC cells.

Amtech Systems is a global supplier of production equipment and relate suppliers for the solar, semiconductor, and LED markets. Its wholly-owned subsidiary Tempress Systems is a provider of high throughput diffusion and PECVD systems. For solar applications, Tempress Systems has delivered approximately 2GW of diffusion furnace systems.

In the first quarter of its fiscal year 2016, Tempress Systems saw significant order growth and revenue in solar. As approximately 50% of the orders is for PECVD systems, most of the orders is from a first-tier PV cell manufacturer in Asia. Tempress System expects to ship the equipment with the next six to nine months.

Fokko Pentinga, Chief Executive Officer of Amtech, commented, "We continue to work closely with current and future customers on their solar cell manufacturing needs and believe we are well positioned to bring high value to our customers through our product and technology offerings. We are experiencing a healthy start to our fiscal 2016 year with the approximately $22 million in solar orders received to date."
