E.ON to Focus on the United States’ Solar Market
2015-08-28 16:51

E.ON decided to turn its energy business from conventional resources to renewable energies in 2014, and the world-leader recently announced to focus on the United States solar market.

Since 2007, E.ON has spent about 10 billion euros (approximately US$11.5 billion) on renewable energies. It has established a pipeline of around 1GW of solar in the U.S. so far. As the president Obama launched advocacy and policies to fight against the climate change through using more renewable resources, E.ON takes the U.S. market as the major target to expand its solar business. E.ON is also banking on the nation.

"If we want to achieve global climate targets then the U.S. has to take a key role and Obama is doing that now with the Clean Energy initiative that he has set up," said Michael Lewis, chief operating officer of E.ON’s renewable unit, in an interview with Reuters.
