Elecnor, an engineering and procurement contractor specializing in infrastructure and renewable energy, has completes a 70MW solar power plant in Australia utilizing single-axis PV trackers provided by NEXTracker. The 70MW solar project is located on the Moree Plains of New South Wales (NSW) and is one of the largest solar projects in Australia.

Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) is the owner and the funder of the solar project. FRV is a leading global operator specializing in the complete development and management of solar power assets. The $164 million project is funded by FRV, with $101 million funding support from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and debt on commercial terms from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).

"NEXTracker has developed a unique foundation solution that addresses the challenging soil conditions found at this project site in Australia,” said Pedro Fernandez, Elecnor project manager.  “The company's novel technology minimizes site grading and grounding requirements – and simplifies design, installation, and maintenance."

"NEXTracker greatly appreciates the opportunity to serve Tier 1 global renewable energy customers Elecnor and FRV, and applauds FRV, ARENA and the CEFC's vision for solar to play a growing role in achieving the Renewable Energy Target. We have expanded globally to meet the tremendous demand for tracking solutions," said NEXTracker CEO Dan Shugar.

Global demand for solar trackers continues to expand rapidly as the market has transitioned to higher irradiance locations where trackers deliver outstanding increases in power production.
