Audi of America launched a comprehensive program, Audi energy®, to help improve the electric vehicle ownership experience and reduce the carbon footprint that comes with the vehicle production, distribution and driving. SunPower has agreed to offer optional home solar panels and energy storage systems to Audi in all 50 states.

Audi energy will be available with the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron, one of Audi’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle, scheduled in 2015. According to Audi energy program, the company will improve sustainability and reduce carbon emissions through three methods involving adopting SunPower’s home solar power systems and energy storage solutions for Audi owners, especially A3 Sportback e-tron customers.

We believe this will be one of the most comprehensive offering in the industry today."

Every Auti A3 Sportback e-tron will be offered with Audi energy’s programs:

• Standard: Level 2 Audi Charger developed with Bosch Automotive Service Solutions
• Standard: Ultra-low carbon footprint. Through an innovative arrangement with 3Degrees, Audi will purchase carbon offset certificates in California and Africa to offset certain greenhouse gas emission associated with A3 Sportback e-tron vehicles.
• Optional: SunPower’s residential rooftop solar and energy storage system which include the 21% efficiency X-Series Solar Panel.

SunPower additionally offers flexible financing options to make renewable energy more accessible to Audi customers. SunPower will also provide energy storage systems that can be used to capture solar PV and power the customers’ homes and EVs.
