Solar power market manufacturer GOAL ZERO is partnering with Life is good and The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy to offer an eco-friendly solution to Bostonians facing a mobile device charging dilemma – public solar powered charging stations known as Street Charge.
Street Charge features a modern design and is powered by the latest in solar panel and battery technology from Goal Zero. People can conveniently charge their phones and hand-held devices using built-in USB ports and charging tips. Solar panels and lithium batteries are incorporated into each station to ensure that there is juice for people to power up – day or night.

“We’re excited to team up with Life is good to help make The Rose Kennedy Greenway a little greener and solar power more accessible,” said Chris Abbruzzese, marketing director for Street Charge. “We couldn’t think of a better place to debut Street Charge in Boston than Dewey Square, the beautiful open plaza at the southern end of the Greenway.”
Street Charge was piloted in New York City last year in public parks, city squares, and university campuses. It gave people a perfect place to relax and recharge. Teaming up with Life is good was the logical next step to bring this technology to Boston. Life is good has its headquarters in Boston and is excited to give back to a city that has been supportive of its mission.
“Partnering up with Goal Zero is a great match for us,” said Steven David, director of brand marketing and public relations. “We have been looking for a renewable energy partner to provide an on-the-go solution to our friends living in or visiting Boston who need a quick and reliable charge for their mobile devices. We believe that Street Charge is a great solution for our community.”
Street Charge is modular to meet the needs of architects, developers, and city planners seeking to offer amenities in commercial and public spaces. Besides providing power, future Street Charge iterations will incorporate lighting, WiFi, and signage for advertisement and way finding.
