REC, a global provider of solar energy solutions, has been named "Best Company for Sustainability in Solar Energy Solutions" globally by IAIR® Group. Voted by a judging panel and over 50,000 readers of the independent magazine and research institute, the award is testament to REC's robust commitment to ecologically sustainable products and responsible business conduct worldwide.

The IAIR® Global Awards were held in Hong Kong on February 28, 2014. The event with around 500 attendees witnessed top-ranking companies from all over the world win one of these prestigious awards in recognition of their commitment to green initiatives and eco-products. Now in their fourth year, the IAIR Awards take the form of a roadshow, with multiple events in the main financial centres around the world. The Hong Kong event was the first stop on this year's tour. The next IAIR global and regional awards will be held in New York, London and Dubai, with associated events also planned for several other key locations worldwide. According to IAIR®, it is one of the fastest growing magazines worldwide that covers topics on global economy and sustainability, and the first in this niche area.

REC was voted the winner in the category "Best Company for Sustainability Solar Energy Solutions Global", with readership votes carrying most weight in the decision. Commenting on the recent award, Øyvind Hasaas, CEO of REC Solar ASA says, "We are delighted that REC, with its high quality and reliable solar energy solutions, has set new standards for sustainability. The 2014 IAIR awards are based on input from around the world, testament to REC's consistent position as a global leader on eco-issues and good corporate citizenship. We are honored to be the winner and will continue with our sustainability initiatives."

REC has been recognized for its sustainability efforts in both its products and special initiatives. It believes in the importance of being an environmentally-friendly company. To this end, it has made conscious efforts to continually reduce energy use and carbon emission in its operational processes. REC's consistently high scores in the global Carbon Disclosure Project - an organization that works with shareholders and companies to disclose greenhouse gas emissions of major companies - reinforces its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint. The company's commitment to collaborating closely with partners enables REC to focus on responsible business conduct, while also supporting social initiatives all over the world to generate clean, green, and affordable energy. For example, in Thailand, it has recently donated solar panels to three schools, helping them better meet their energy needs through the additional energy provided by the renewable source.
