2014-02-26 14:50

SunPower Corporation supplies Fuji Furukawa Engineering & Construction (FFEC) with 494 kW of its high efficiency E20/327 solar panels. FFEC has installed the solar panels at the Costco store located in Maebashi, Gunma, Japan, and the system is expected to commence operating next month. FFEC is acting as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for this project.

"We are pleased that our high efficiency E20/327 solar panels were selected by Costco for this rooftop installation, the first on a Costco store in Japan, and that our customer, FFEC was chosen to install them on this facility," said Howard Wenger, SunPower president, regions. "We've seen demand for solar in Japan continue to grow, and is now the second largest market for SunPower after the United States. We look forward to supplying our panels for more commercial installations like this one."

Integrated into the E20/327 Solar Panels by SunPower are its patented Maxeon® all-back contact solar cells. These cells are built on a solid copper foundation, making them extremely resistant to cracking, corrosion and stresses from temperature variation. With an average efficiency of 20.1 percent, the E20/327 panels deliver more power in the same amount of space and maximize system output with fewer panels installed.

E20/327 solar panels by SunPower are backed by the company's straightforward 25-year combined product and power warranty, which is 15 to 20 years longer than most. It offers the industry's lowest power degradation with more warranted energy, resulting in an unprecedented 87 percent power level at the end of 25 years.

SunPower’s solar products branded in Japan are named as “Maxeon Solar™” and the company will be exhibiting at PV Expo 2014.
