REC Solar, a national enterprise in solar electric system design and installation, announced on Feb 4th the separation of its commercial and residential operations. Continuing under the name REC Solar, the company will focus solely on bringing commercial-scale solar projects to businesses, federal agencies and utilities nationwide.
“Since 2001, REC Solar has earned a reputation for exceptional customer service and high quality system development in the commercial sector, underscored by our growing national footprint and repeat high-profile customers,” said Angiolo Laviziano, board member of REC Solar. “The commercial market is projected to grow upwards of 40 percent in 2014, and this business division will strengthen REC Solar’s position in the space.”
REC Solar recently welcomed new CEO Paul Detering, who brings to the company nearly a decade of expertise in the commercial solar market. Detering previously served as CEO of Tioga Energy, a solar electric system developer and provider of power purchase agreements (PPAs) for commercial, non-profit and governmental customers.
“The commercial and residential solar businesses are built upon fundamentally different models, with unique customer bases and disparate sources of capital,” said Paul Detering, CEO of REC Solar. “With this decision, REC Solar can better serve the needs of our commercial solar customers moving forward.”
REC Solar has completed more than 100 MW of commercial and industrial solar projects for a diverse range of customers, including big-box retailers like IKEA and federal government agencies like the Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as utilities, municipalities and agricultural facilities.
