2013-12-30 15:17

Taiwan’s Delta Electronics announced that it has started supplying First Energy Networks (FEN), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad in Southeast Asia, with a wall-mounted residential AC charger for the Nissan LEAF, the best-selling pure electric vehicle (EV) in the world, recently launched in Malaysia.

Delta’s AC charger enables the EV owners to fully charge their vehicles within four hours. In addition, Delta is cooperating with FEN, Malaysia’s first commercial EV charging service provider, in the installation of 20 EV charging stations in major car dealership locations, shopping malls, and public facilities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Malacca and Johor Bahru to provide EV owners free and convenient charging services. FEN’s cooperation with Delta will enable Tan Chong Motor Holdings, one of the region’s largest automobile manufacturing and sales companies, to provide a comprehensive EV dealership platform that offers green vehicles and EV charging units as car accessories and supports public charging infrastructure for the development of eco-transportation in Malaysia for years to come.

“The combination of our EVs and Delta’s highly energy-efficient residential chargers is a very appealing option for our customers. Tan Chong is, therefore, empowering a significant acceleration of the EV market in Malaysia. Electric cars feature key characteristics such as energy conservation and eco-friendliness, and they will become a mainstream product in the automobile market,” said Mr. Reza Mutalib, Director of FEN.

“The Tan Chong Group is actively promoting EVs, which is consistent with Delta’s mission to provide innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow,” indicated General Manager of Delta’s Charging and Microgrid Solutions Business Unit, Herman Chang. “In 2011, Delta unveiled a CHAdeMO-compliant 50kW EV DC Quick Charger with an industry leading energy efficiency of 94%, as well as an AC charger that has been co-tested with multiple EV makers in Europe, the U.S., and Japan, and complies with the safety regulations of TUV, UL, and CNS. Our cooperation with the Tan Chong Group will provide a convenient, quick, and safe charging service for EV users in Malaysia.”
