SolarCity, a provider of clean energy, unveiled a solar powered model home with Elite Development Northwest that will be on public display at the annual Street of Dreams home show in West Linn, Oregon. SolarCity designed and installed a 9.6 kilowatt (kW) system to power Elite’s rustic style home with solar electricity. The solar system will generate on average 8975 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity every year over the system lifetime*

The model home is on display to promote a comfortable and an environmentally conscious lifestyle for Oregonians. Elite Development Northwest designed the model home named Cuvée with energy efficiency at the cornerstone of this innovative new home. In addition to a rooftop solar system, the 5350 square feet home comes with modern energy efficient features, including energy-saving appliances, and home automation controls with smartphone apps.

The environmental impact of the solar system for this 4 bedroom/4.5 bathroom home is reducing more than 327,400 pounds of carbon-dioxide emissions (CO2), which is equivalent to planting more than 14,100 trees over the system lifetime.* The model home is expected to inspire Oregon homeowners to switch to clean energy and benefit by saving on their electricity bills by paying less for renewable, solar electricity.

Homeowners interested in getting a solar system for their current homes can sign up for a free consultation with SolarCity while visiting the Cuvée model home, or contact SolarCity directly at 1-888-SOL-CITY (1-888-765-2489). The Street of Dreams show will run from July 27-August 25, 2013 at Stonehenge area in West Linn, Oregon.

*Calculations based on estimated system lifetime of 30 years and based on data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
