Distributor and maker of in-roof solar solutions, ALTUS ENERGY conceived, developed et implemented at the gates of Brittany, solar plants with a total power of 2,3 MW for the Transport company GELIN. This family-run group becomes one of the most important Producer of « green electricity » in Brittany, thanks to these generators installed on part of its 70 000 m2 hangars roofs. The energetic transformation of this well-established transport company has begun and enables its chairman, Roland Gelin, to consider a dynamic and sustained growth in the coming years.
ALTUS ENERGY has proposed a solution taking into account the necessity of renovating GELIN warehouses. Revenues from the plant, which has a total capacity of 2.3 MW, have been used to finance the asbestos removal of GELIN hangars.
The generator is made up of the ALTUS ENERGY in-roof system SPI 200 A, combined with the Norwegian REC Solar modules, whose yield and energetic footprint are recognized as one of the best in the market.
The specificity of this generator is to be integrated at the heart of the production facilities. The hangars roofs of GELIN have been used to produce 2 105 000 KWh per year, which represent 10% of the electricity consumption of Fougères, the local city (22 000 inhabitants). The annual production is equivalent to more than 100 tons of CO2 saved.
A model of good management by meeting deadlines and technical requirements
This project was submitted to heavy technical constraints and to short deadlines due to a linking to the EDF grid to be achieved at last for september 2011. The contract was fully completed thanks to the in-roof system SPI 200 A, whose flexibility and user-friendliness accelerated the implementation of the plant on the 20 000m2 roofs. In the same way, the Altus grounding connector provided quick and convenient grounding for the 10 000 REC Solar modules thanks to its self striping functionality, which is a real « killer application » that is being more and more used on all major solar plants on the french market. All these Altus solutions enabled the project to be achieved with a 10 M€ budget.
