2011-11-07 15:23

Gamesa leads a group of Spanish companies that best tailor their information to communicate with stakeholders, including their business news, strategic, operational and business expansion information, corporate social responsibility, etc. The Reporta 2011 report endorses Gamesa's efforts, as part of an annual review of best practices and communication standards among listed Spanish companies, assessing principles of transparency, adequacy and accessibility.

Reporta 2011 emphasises that Gamesa is the best performing company, out of a total of 113, in the proper application of the principle of adequacy: disclosure, in addition to the traditional and obligatory financial data, of information on strategy, the industry environment, the company's role in society and its position in the area of sustainability. Likewise, the report underscores the role of the partners and stakeholders to whom the information is geared.

Gamesa improved its overall ranking this year, earning an A grade and climbing six positions to seventh place, trailing only Iberdrola, Repsol, Santander, Endesa, Enagás and Red Eléctrica.

According to the report, the concept of transparency gauges the extent to which a company's general disclosure and information about corporate social responsibility provide stakeholders with an understanding of the firm's true circumstances: performance, strategy and future. In this area, Gamesa ranks No. 12 within Group A.

In the area of accessibility, Gamesa ranks fifth. This category evaluates the clarity of each company's publicly available information, in terms of language and presentation, ease of access through online platforms (Internet, etc.) and the degree to which any member of the public may easily locate the data. Gamesa has had a Level AA accessible website for the past year, in keeping with international standards.

The Reporta 2011report emphasises that firms in Group A are aware that being regarded as responsible and transparent corporations and cultivating fluid relationships with stakeholders are important variables for adding value to their companies.
