Haiku Designs Continues Green Living With Renewable Solar Energy Panel Installation

Going green and saving energy is a top priority for many companies today, and Haiku Designs, a leading online retailer of Asian furniture, has taken another step in the right direction by adding a major solar panel installation to their headquarters' building roof and upgrading to an ultra high efficiency, low emission heater and air conditioning system.

In cooperation with the Colorado Governors energy initiative and the Xcel Solar Energy program and keeping in line with their green lifestyle of sustainable, eco-friendly Asian furniture and natural bedroom furniture sets, Haiku Designs has been given the proper resources and funding for installing the renewable solar energy systems.

"As a company that believes in the well-being of our planet and protecting our environment, we felt that it was important to embody a green lifestyle in every aspect of our business," said a Haiku Designs representative. "The installation of these sustainable solar panels, as well as upgrading to an eco-friendly heater and air conditioning system will help alleviate the energy waste problem that is becoming more and more prevalent in our society, which is another step to a healthier planet."

According to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, about 56 percent of all energy in the United States economy is wasted. With the installation of the solar panels, Haiku Designs is able to track the excess power they generate through a net energy meter installed in the building. This allows the surplus energy to circuit back into the grid rather than go to waste.

To prevent an increase in the energy wasted, companies like Haiku Designs have taken advantage of the technologies available to mitigate wasteful power consumption.
