2011-05-20 11:52

The Third German Electric Vehicle Congress on June 8th and 9th 2011 at the World Conference Center Bonn has been established as Germany’s leading conference regarding the electric mobility. It accomplished to provide the more than 500 participants in each of the last two years a comprehensive overview of the most important trends on the market, in the politics and the research via high profile speakers. The accompanying exhibition and the driving event along the Rhine river will give the participants an additional “electric mobility experience”.

To show the progress of the EVs this year’s focus of the programme will be on running and starting productions: EVs, batteries, engines and climatisation. Alongside the car manufacturers like Mitsubishi, Ford and Renault who will be presenting the current projects and productions, Mr. Ulrich Kranz, leader of the project i at BMW will focus on a holistic concept for sustainable and individual mobility. Barry Shrier, CEO of Liberty Electric Cars will introduce his E-Range Rover with its innovative power train technology and unique cell architecture.

Battery technology, resources, smart grids and renewable energy will continuously be the crucial issues of the discussions around the electric mobility innovation. The Third Electric Vehicle Congress has combined them in the parallel session regarding the energy supply. Here the focus will also be on companies already producing for EVs including BASF, SGL Carbon SE, Leclanche SA, Johnson Controls and European Batteries.

Besides the battery technology further components for a successful EV are a main challenge for the supplier industry of all sectors. Experiences of Continental, Schaeffler, IAV, Siemens and Brusa are offering orientation to confront the demand of future market changes. Long-standing pioneers with established productions like the Finnish car manufacturer Valmet and Think from Norway will further enhance the congress’ programme.

Furthermore the particular business environment for the electric mobility: distribution, grid and charging concepts as well as safety questions will be discussed thoroughly by the decisive actors. SAP combines in its “Future Fleet” the testing of the first EV fleet with the development of modern information and communication technologies under consideration of a sustainable energy supply. As a world premiere the Aachen University of Applied Sciences present Ec2Go – the world’s first solely for car sharing designed EV with a holistic infrastructural concept.

Overview presentations on the experiences in the German model projects and regions connect the questions regarding the technology, distribution and acceptance with the political and economical controlling instruments.

The accompanying exhibition will again be directly in front of the plenary hall of the World Conference Center. Furthermore the driving event will allow all congress participants to drive EVs of renowned companies. Current vehicles and new prototypes are available to be driven on the open road.
