Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced it will launch "the new action TOUR", Nissan LEAF's first nationwide tour in Japan aimed to provide an opportunity for people around the country to experience electric vehicles (EV) first-hand and learn more about Nissan's vision to realize a zero-emission society. In collaboration with various NPOs throughout Japan, a series of Nissan LEAF test-rides and workshops will be conducted across the country, with the first phase of the tour starting on July 31 in Kanagawa Prefecture, where Nissan was founded.
After its kick off in Kanagawa Prefecture, the tour will move to other municipalities with which the Renault-Nissan Alliance has formed partnerships to jointly promote zero-emission mobility, such as the City of Yokohama, Saitama City, Miyazaki Prefecture and Kita-Kyushu City.
As part of the tour launch, in addition to the test-rides and workshops, Nissan will invite Mr. Shigefumi Matsuzawa, Governor, Kanagawa Prefecture, to keynote a series of lectures on zero-emission society at the Nissan Global Headquarters in Yokohama.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance aims to be a global leader in zero-emission mobility. To date, the Alliance has entered into more than 60 partnerships worldwide with countries, cities, organizations and other key stakeholders to prepare the markets and necessary infrastructure for the successful adoption of electric vehicles around the world. Nissan will launch Nissan LEAF, the company's first affordable, 100% electric, zero-emission car in December 2010 in Japan, the United States and Europe.
