Green Mountain Energy Company, the nation’s leading competitive retail provider of cleaner energy, and smart center Sugar Land and smart center Houston North, are teaming up to “get smart” and “go green.” The companies are sponsoring a Sweepstakes to give away a 2010 smart fortwo Passion Coupe (equipped with the manufacturer’s standard base model package and limited warranty) that has an approximate retail value of $14,690.00 before taxes, title and license, to a qualifying Texas resident.

“We are thrilled to partner with a company that offers one of the most fuel efficient cars on the U.S. roads today,” said Paul Markovich, president, Residential Services, Green Mountain Energy Company. “Through this promotion, we hope to educate Houston residents that they can make smart choices both inside and outside the home to help make a difference for the environment.”

“Green Mountain Energy Company is a perfect fit with smart – as both our customers are looking for ways to reduce their environmental impact,” said James Sparks, brand manager of smart center Sugar Land. “smart buyers purchase the car to make a statement, and we are pleased to provide a great opportunity for someone to win this fun, stylish and environmentally-friendly car.”

The smart fortwo, engineered by Mercedes-Benz, is a preferred vehicle solution for American consumers in this cost-conscious, environmentally responsible society. It is the most fuel efficient, non-hybrid vehicle in the U.S., according to the 2010 EPA Fuel Economy Guide, achieving an average of 41 miles per gallon on the highway.  The smart fortwo also is certified by the EPA as a “Smartway” vehicle, which indicates good environmental performance, placing it among the “greenest” vehicles on the market.  While the smart fortwo has a small exterior footprint—just 8.8 feet long— it has a large amount of head and legroom, more than many small sedans. It has exceptional safety ratings, and a full 95 percent of the smart car’s parts are recyclable.
