There are currently more than twenty companies globally manufacturing lithium-ion batteries used for mobility. Within Japan only, there are more than ten companies include Toshiba, Hitachi, NEC, GS Yuasa, Toyota, and Panasonic EV Energy. American companies include A123 and Johnson Controls. Other well-know manufacturers of mobility power batteries include BYD in China and LG Chem in Korea.

In Taiwan, companies related to lithium-ion batteries include Pihsiang and Molicel. Unlisted companies include Phoenix Silicon International Corp., GP Batteries, Amita, and LynoPower. Packaging companies in Taiwan such as Simplo Technology Co., Dynapack International Technology, Celxpert Energy Corp., and Welldone Company mainly focus on consumer electronics applications like NB but may tap into mobility power batteries in the future.

Among battery manufacturers in China, the ones that have the capacity for mass production are BYD, Tianjin Lishen Battery Joint-Stock Co., Shenzhen Bak Battery Co., and Amperex Technology, which was acquired by TDK Corp. of Japan. Due to government support and domestic demand, batteries manufacturers in China have the upside potential for this particular market.
